Result Of Jan Photography Competition!!

The theme for the photography competition for the months of January was "New Beginnings" and as always, the club members came up with some great snaps on the topic.

Here are the results:

1st Place: Pranav Pai Vernekar -Welcoming the Goddess of Food

Details: ISO: 80, Camera : DSC W-270

Description
: On the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations we have a festival called Nave. Here we welcome the godless of food "Dhanya Lakshmi' into our houses by cutting the new crop as a part of the ritual.

Judge's comment: Lovely Composition and Description.... great way to look at the theme

2nd Place: Namrata Bhave -Entering the world of literacy..

Description: An important stage in our life is entering the vast world of education, the world of competition! You are a useless person in today's world if you are an illiterate. The child in the photo is starting a new phase of her life, learning A,B,C and opening the doors of education.

Judge's Comment: Really nice concept.... very different from the other entries

3rd Place: Nisha Dhond -A new experience.......

Details: ISO: 400 ,Aperture- f/4.0 ,Exposure time- 0.020s(1/50) ,Focal length- 10.7 mm

Description: This is a picture I took in my neighbours house. My neighbour(a cute small girl in this case) was learning to walk, with her enthusiastic mother by her side. Her tiny hand clutched her mom's hand firmly and she inched forward step-by step. This was a new beginning for the little lady. Well, it was a golden chance for me too, and i took this snap of the little girl and her mother.........

Judges Comment: Very nice snap. Image space has been used very well.

Consolation: Navin Pai -The Open Abyss

Details: Aperture: f/3.1 Exposure Time (Shutter Speed): 1/60 seconds ISO: 100

Description: Staring at the horizon, with a new perspective of life, wondering what life has in store for him next. Pic taken at Kanangini beach during a recent picnic just before the new semester began.

Judge's Comment: Amazing snapshot. But just doesn't go with the theme.

So we have two female shutterbugs in the Top 3 for the first time!! Guys beware, these girls are simply brilliant behind the lens!!

Congratulations to the all the winners!!

P.S : Also check out the other entries submitted for the competition in this earlier blog post.
