September Photography Competition!!

September is a month awaited by all, because it brings with it loads of festivals (and loads of holidays! :) ). And with this month's Photography Competition theme, we aim to bring showcase the festive spirit. The theme for this month's photography competition is "Ganpati Bappa Moriya".

Ganesh Chaturthi while traditionally a Hindu festival, has over time metamorphosed into a celebration of joy irrespective of age, race, religion or caste. It is a time when people burn away their tensions with firecrackers and give up their diets to fill themselves with modaks and laddoos! And we want you to showcase anything that you feel represents Ganesh Festivities. There are no barriers to your imagination. The sky is the limit!!

Each person will be allowed a maximum of three entries.


Kindly submit your photographs along with the following details:

• Caption
• Description (Explain the concept of the picture)
  
• Photographic details (ISO, Aperture, Shutter speed, Focal length etc)

The last date for entries is 30th September 2010

So get out there, yell "Ganpati Bappa Moriya", and start clicking!

'Monsoon Magic' Competition Entries

The monthly photography competition for the month of August marked the new academic year with the wonderful topic, "Monsoon Magic". There were many different interpretations of the theme that members portrayed through their snaps.

Despite the fact that there was very little time for members to submit entries, all in all, 9 entries were received for the competition.

GEC Photography Club- Year 2 Meet 1!

As the new academic year commenced, the GEC Photography Club started resumed it's regular activities. We held our inaugural meet on 12 Aug 2010 ... and were happy to see that the new year brought with it many new faces as well!!

We started off the day by showing the new members a short promo video telling them about the idea behind the club, the activities undertaken by us:

We had so much to talk about: The club's activities, events the club would be covering, events the club would be participating in, tie-ups with academic & commercial organisations (more on that later) and of course introduction of our club's main event, the Annual Photography Festival, PhotoFlare.

A short brainstorming session with members helped bring up some brilliant ideas about forthcoming activities & competitions.

The theme for the intra-club photography competition for the month of August was also disclosed: Monsoon Magic!

To top it off, we had a lovely Photo-walk to the far end of the campus, truly bringing a grand ending to the awesome day!!

PhotoFlare 2010 - In Images

PhotoFlare 2010, organised by our club, and held on the 10th and 11th of April 2010, has set the standard for Photography festivals in Goa. And what better way to showcase an event such as PhotoFlare, than through photographs?

PhotoFlare 2010 had >7 GB of photographs clicked (and stored) over a timespan of <48 hours! That's ~ 150 MB of photographs per hour!! Wow!!

Here we present a set of photographs of PhotoFlare which will provide an insight into the event to those who missed it! Photographers whose photographs have been used for the following set are:
