The second meeting

The second meeting of the year 2013 was held on 8th august 2013. A new member of the club, Sharmad Kuvelkar gave a presentation about basics of photography explaining some concepts that were not covered in the previous meet. He talked about composing images, how to hold a camera for better stability and different point of views.

The presentation was followed by a long photo walk behind the ETC dept, near the famous GEC windmill. Due to very good lighting conditions, we explained how the depth of field works and how you can use it to define your photograph. We also managed to get some amazing macro photos and portraits.

We discussed about some future aspects of the club; having a photo walk at night, and also having a night out in the campus to do some astro-photography. More about which will be discussed in the upcoming meetings.

A new beginning..!!

As the new academic year commenced, the GEC Photography Club resumed its regular and awesome activities. . We held our inaugural meet on 1 August 2013. The response was really overwhelming as a lot of fes attended the meeting.

We started off by telling about the idea of the club, its history and the activities undertaken by us. We talked about all the future aspects of the club; about the intra-club competitions, photoflare etc.

We also discussed about few basic topics and rules in photography by showing pictures and giving a live demonstration using cameras.

Due to the huge response and the willingness of the members to learn more, we divided ourselves in groups, each senior member taking responsibility of a group of 10. We showed them how a camera works by giving a demonstration with our DSLRs, and also explained a few rules in photography and how to compose an image.

At the end of the day, it was a successful first meeting. We taught lots of things and learnt few things ourself!
