Result Of Oct-Nov Photography Competition!!

The theme for the photography competition for the months of October-November was "Go For Colours" and we were really glad to see some really creative photos coming up from the members.

Mr. Alirio Saldanha, our technical consultant and professional photographer, had a tough time choosing the best pictures from amongst the entries.

After a lot of deliberation, these are the pictures he has selected as the prize winning ones:

1st Place: Suryanand Shirodkar -Hiding Colours

Details: ISO 100, F3.1, shutter speed:130

Description: It appears as though colours are hiding behind long grass(which actually is peacock feather) in the rainy days. By all coming together they give us a message of life can be very beautiful if we all be together.

Judge's comment: Suryanand has taken time and trouble to create this picture, which needed "application of mind." The thought of blending the peacock's features added another dimension to an otherwise interesting concept in itself. Over all, a great picture which goes well with the theme of "Go for Colours." This photograph has a strong creative element involved.

2nd Place: Navin Pai -Dancing Lights

Details: Aperture: f/3.9, Exposure time: 2 secs, Focal length: 12.2 mm

Description: Before, there was darkness....then lights appeared, and danced their way around the world. This picture is a little way of representing the ballet of lights

Judge's comment: A colourful riot of colours at night. Though it is predominantly red, the interweaving of the light strings make it a very attractive picture, at first glance. The tiny licks of blue add a different spectrum to the gamut of colours.

3rd Place: Pritam Thomke -Go For Colours & Nishkarsh Khandekar -Lined Up...

format form

Go For Colours:
Details: -
Description: This is my entry for this months photography theme.

Lined Up...:
Details: Aperture: f/5.6, ISO: 64, Exposure Time: 0.008s(1/125)
Description: Are the colors lined up in this pic trying to break through the barrier of blacks n whites??

Judge's comment: I could not decide which was better among these two. Interesting photographs by both participants. Good perspective angles to the photographs.

So it seems we have a winning streak being started by the talented young photographer Suryanand Shirodkar, who has now won two consecutive monthly photography competitions. Congratulations to him!

Congratulations to the other winners as well!! Great going guys!!

P.S : Also check out the other entries submitted for the competition in this earlier blog post.

The monthly photography competition for the month of October had its last date for entries extended twice, in light of the semester end exams. However, despite this, the number of entries we received was considerably lower that those received in earlier competitions.

All in all, 12 entries were received for the competition.
