The Phototrek to Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, organised by MITRA on 27th September was attended by very few members of the club due to various reasons. However, it was an absolute treat for those who managed to make it on the day.
The day kicked off at around 9:00 AM with a bus ride to the sanctuary, followed by a trek till around 1:30 PM. A short lunch break later, members trekked to the Mahadwar (main gate) of the sanctuary. The pit stop for lunch (or is that a "paet" stop?) was very informative, as details regarding other nature related activities were also given to the members. It was nearly 4:00 PM by the time the trek ended. Members trekked on almost every terrain imaginable, ranging from grasslands, to up-hill, to crossing streams with knee-deep water!
The opportunities for photography were abundant, especially since the MITRA team made it a point to pace the trek as per the requirements of the members. Members managed to get some nice macros of various butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies (which is pretty difficult since they are very active creatures). Besides, small amphibians like frogs and toads also had their 15 minutes of fame as members enthusiastically clicked their photographs. Pictures of the many streams were also clicked in hopes of getting the perfect picture for this months photography competition!! The pit stop for lunch (or is that a "paet" stop?) was very informative, and details regarding other nature related activities were also given to the members.
Overall, the members had a great time out in the sun! Lets hope we get to do this more often!
